Former Goldman Sachs Partner and Philanthropist Christopher K. Norton
Christopher K. Norton began his career on Wall Street soon after graduating from Haverford College with a degree in history and economics. He was drawn to the way global events influenced markets and developed his career in an environment that demanded discipline and quick analysis. From the start, Christopher K. Norton made a personal decision to limit his career on Wall Street to 25 years and retired in 2005 after fulfilling that commitment during his time at Goldman Sachs.
At Goldman Sachs, Mr. Norton advanced to partner and held positions across New York, Asia, and Europe. His work included managing fixed income trading, leading the global government bonds division, and directing America’s institutional business development group. While in these roles, he focused on applying knowledge and effort to remain competitive in the marketplace, while preferring to avoid publicity and maintain a modest profile.
Following retirement, Mr. Norton shifted his attention to philanthropy and education. He has served on boards including The Washington Center, the Loomis Chaffee School, and Haverford College. Much of his giving has been directed toward education and opportunities for young people to shape a better world, though many contributions are made anonymously in keeping with his belief in humility. Outside of professional and service commitments, his interests include history, reading, cooking, travel, sports, and time with family.
